Evening all

There is good news for some of us depending on when your MOT is due.

960-covid-19-mot-exemption.png

As a result of the current situation the government is extending all MOT's as them come due for 6 months, starting from 30th March 2020.

For more information: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/vehi ... oronavirus

Please note - 'Vehicles must be kept in roadworthy condition'.

At least there might be some silver lining in this all. That and being trapped at home, right next to our garages...

Not for the MOT stations, they will claw the money back one way or the other.

standard fee set by the Government the MOT test station can't put the price up, there will be a lot of errrrrr close failures.

Won't be a problem for most of us with car that we only put on the road for 6 months though. Can just SORN the car again until next Spring.

I do get 'trade' MOT tests, but there have always been plenty of 'retail' test offers around, even in the backwater where I live, occasionally at marginally less than what I pay. Loss leaders, I suspect, in the knowledge that they will likely get the repair work.

A cheap MOT is usually accompanied with a fail for things like brake lines
