Hey folks!

I figure its about time I upgraded my speakers on my E30 cabby.

What speakers do you guys use? I'd like high clarity and speakers that have a decent bass and mid.

Looking to spend about £100 or so I guess?

Cheers peeps!

:)

Problem with the E30 is you can only fit a 5.25 inch speaker in the original place, which it's hard to get decent mid from, unless you start chopping door cards to put 6.5 inch in.

I've currently got Focal 5.25 inch in the front, and I've put the mids from a 6.5 inch Hertz Dieci component system in the back shelf for a bit of extra mid, and it sounds pretty good.

If you're looking at new ones, look at Focal, Hertz, JL Audio

Focal you'll get Access within budget

Hertz Dieci you can get for about £60

JL Audio you should get C2's within budget

Just remember it's all in the installation, I've heard £500 systems wipe the floor with £2000 systems just because it's been installed better

I'd also consider infinity and some of the alpine range

However if you want a but more bass look at the vibes. Not that musical and the tweeters can be harsh but they have a decent power rating and can be amped up with good results and will provide some much needed bass. But their magnets are quite deep so fitting in the original location may require a small spacer

Had infinity in the back but they didn't have the clearance and pushed out the standard rear covers with the tweeter dome as well. Went for Alpines in the end, £30 rears powered off the head unit from halfords and Alpine component fronts (£80) powered from the original pioneer GM-620 amp. Good enough for me - the amp in the front lifts it nicely and there's no clearance issues.
