Wiring Question

I have just fitted my m50 and I've managed to reposition the relays and wiring to fit along the bulkhead and put the ECU under the dash, however in doing this I relocated the diagnostic plug ( looks like a C101 with a cover on ) to the passenger side. Linked into this diagnostic plug area of the loom is a short earth that was bolted directly to the battery negative, however I really don't want to run it right back across the bulkhead as space is limited to say the least. Does anyone know if I have to run this all the way back across or can i just earth it to the body ? ( I suspect it is the main earth for the engine loom and i will have to but would appreciate any opinions ? )

A proper earth point is favoured, dont just drill a hole and screw it on with a self tapper though, ive seen plenty done like this and it just ends up melting the loom

If you spend some time on it there can be plenty of room in that bulkhead cover -

21 is the M3 battery tray rear cover, perfect finishing touch

With the new MOT test regs. now covering wiring, this day may have to be sooner than you think!

It can be done much quicker/easier for a reasonable cost
