Hi on my 1989 E30 325i Sport, as soon as I start the car the fan runs constant, also noticed after a drive the temp gauge does not move off the blue line even though engine is warm ??

Thanks

Dos the fan roar if you rev the engine? The fan should always be turning on an E30, but at a much slower speed than the engine at anything above idle.
If the bearing on a viscous fan coupling has seized, the roar from the fan at medium/high revs will be unmistakeable.
Even if the fan coupling bearing has seized it shouldn't have much effect on the engine temp. I'd be looking at the thermostat in relation to the low temp. problem.

Can you confirm the radiator is hot, not warm with the gauge in the blue?

Even when thermostats die and cause overcooling a motorway drive should still get the car up to temperature, does your needle move towards the centre in that situation?

I'm thinking brass nut on the back of the cluster may have rattled loose.

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

That would make the gauge read higher than it should, not lower.

I've been told the 2 sensors, brown and blue ones go faulty, might replace them along with the thermostat.

Blue temp sensor is for the ECU....
