Gearbox 5spd vs 6spd

What are the pros and cons for a 5spd and 6spd box coupled to a M52B28 and a 3.64 diff?

Is there much more hassle with a 6sp box than with a m42 box? I'm liking the idea of the shorter gears but final drive the same as the m42 (or thats how I under stood it).

I've got a 6spd on my M42 and realy enjoy the shorter gears, especially with the supercharger it always drops the revs back to the sweet spot

Not sure what it would be like on a M5x swoop though, I hear there abit weaker and abit more expensive to buy but I wouldn't swop it back now.

Also mine was a SMG box that I converted to mannual so was abit cheaper to start with.

Unless you are using the 6th gear as an advantage I dont see the point, unless you just want to thrash the shite out of it 110% of course

Yeah was talking to Dave after I posted up and have come to the conclusion to forget about it. Be a waste not to use a rebuilt diff and depending on the gearbox there's hassle with the clutch.

It was more a economy thing when cruising but still have the shorter gears to keep it quick, and to make her a bit more like a modern car (to shut people up saying it doesnt have this r that )
