Having a bit of a day dream about these.
Anyone got one or know someone who has one? What are they like to own? I can imagine they're not that fuel friendly but what about the 340bhp coming out of a 2ltr engine? Sounds like expensive engine repairs could be on the cards...
Cheers,
Nick

No need for engine repairs just a fuel card and a 5hit load of servicing, other then that it's just bigfatgrin.com all the way.

One of my pals has one of these. Good motors and quick. Boot lids corrode. Alloy panel with steel bolts holding the spoiler on.

Done lots of miles in these. Mega fun but the engine is a rough old nail and you will get done for speeding, if not lose your licence. Plus as Heap says, they guzzle juice and the service intervals were 4500 miles i think! Miles more fun than an Impreza though

I'm sure one of the guys at work was put off of the evo because of the cost of replacing clutches and how regularly they apparently need changing if you drive it hard!!!!!
Worth checking with a dealer/specialist for a few prices like that!!!!

Falkster had one of these, it was scary quick ,
the Maintenance on these rice turds is fooking horrendous , and will soon destroy any spare cash you once had

The 4500k service is bull shite, no doubt commonly spread due to Top Gear.
It isn't a full service that is required at that mileage, it's just changing the fluid on the AYC.
If you go for the RS model, which doesn't have AYC, the servicing is far more normal. Something like 8 or 10k miles.

Hardly a big deal to a Murcielago owner. 1kg of weed later and he'll still have change !

biggest cost to worry about first is insurance
then worry about the rest.

they eat tyres , they did 3 sets in 15,000 miles lol
also, as for servicing it cost them £1600 for 3 services in a year (15,000 miles)
so for every 10miles you do it will cost you £1 in servicing costs. you'll get a 100 miles for ever £35 you put in it and say that's all you do a week and insurance is £1000 a year that's another £20 a week and £5 a week for road tax/MOT take it will cost you £70 a week.
then there is tyres, being 4dw it will eat up tyres and doing a set of performance tyres in 5,000 miles is easy, a set of yoko AD08's is £540, A048R's are £200 a corner. with the cheaper set thats another £10 a week on the true running costs
so, £80 a week. in all honesty you will use more fuel, your MPG will be worse and insurance could be more. and if something goes wrong..............
£80 doesnt sound like much but my e39 (a 530i sport) is £40 based on the same mileage and changing a pair of tyres and one full service, when all it will need is an oil and filter change and tyres will in all honesty not need to be changed.
i dont know how much driving you do nick, but if had an evo 8 i'd be doing more than a 100 miles a week, i'd end up doing double that every weekend

Worst car I've owned!!! Really really really really fast and will literally dust anything BUT too loud, too stiff, poor interior, £10,000,000 every 4500 to service or 6 month.
Great to drive when you want to dust which is probably 1% of peoples driving but the other 99% of the time you'll hate driving it!!
