I've just picked up a drivers door from an 87 320i, and the window glass (manual window) is different to the glass for leccy windows. If your window glass has a cut-out section in the bottom, it wont work with leccy windows. The glass must be flat at the bottom. I think early cars with manual windows have diff. glass to later ones - if your manual window mechanism is a long tubular frame thingy which is a b**ger to get out of the door frame, you've got the early ones. Will need later flat-bottomed glass plus motor assembly, (plus console switches, etc.) in order to convert to leccy windows.
