Yup cant find a real solution at the moment, the speedo works when it feel like it, tried some out of 318 and the speedo as expected is different and the rev guage reads high. So will I need a new set of clocks, or can the speedo be fixed? all bolts tight and connections look good on the cluster.

Regards Mark.

It could be a dodgy connection in your dash clocks but its usually around the speed sensor wiring/connector that goes wrong.

The wire from the diff tends to break inside the plastic sheath about an inch from the plug. Pull the individual wires gently, and if one stretches, you've found the problem (or just made another one).
Post facelift 318 cluster is the same as a 325 one. The vehicle specific information is contained in the coding chip, which is housed in the little white pull out plug on the lower right front edge of the cluster.
Keep the coding plug with the car.
