Replacing bushes.
Moderator: martauto
I want to replace all the bushes in my suspension... everything.
Now i'm wondering if anyone will help me out as i'd like to have a list of every bush (most will be in pairs yes?) for the suspension so i dont miss one out when going for a quote from the genuine parts depot.
Cheers, Nay.

Front lower arm (in the 'lollypop') - M3 ones are a nice little upgrade!
Front anti roll bar
Rear anti roll bar
Rear trailing arm (2 pairs required)
Rear beam, if you fancy doing a really nasty job that is!
That's it for the bushes, I would do the front and rear anti roll bar drop links whilst at it too, not dear and easy to do, again pairs front and rear.
Check ball joints for wear as well, could be worth doing whilst it's apart.

Also check your top mounts for any play, it would be a good time to fit the E46 cab rear mounts, stronger than the E30.
If you don't use Powerflex and go with standard rubber only use OEM from BMW.
All the rubber bushes from GSF & ECP are crap quality.

Basically, i'm revamping the suspension, so want to do everything whilst i'm there. So the harder jobs should be made easier as the whole suspension is coming off. I plan to use BMW parts all the way (well, for bushes and so forth)

Top Mounts?? Is this for the front and back?
Also, i'm planning to get new Bilstein shocks, tie rods, bearings, brake disks, pads, braided brake lines.
Anything else whilst i'm making the list?

Cheers Chris. Expensive list...
Are the M3 Eccentric top mounts worth it? are they much more expensive than the normal top mounts (front?). At £95 each its quite a price to pay... (i assume you need 2.)

So,
FRONT
Pair of E30 M3 eccentric top strut mounts (31331139484) - 94.41 each (do i need 2 of these or is the price actually for both???) with 6x studs and nuts...
Pair of E30 M3 eccentric lollypop bushes (31129061222) - £85 pair
Drop Links (31351091764) - £54.03 pair
Pair of front ARB bushes - £18.55 pair
ARB & Drop Link fasteners £5 extra per link (how many?????)
N/S Track control arm (31121127725) - £92.81
O/S Track control arm (31121127726) - £92.81
(Are these things that only really need replacing when broken?? as 200 nearly for control arms... should i really get these?)
REAR
Pair of E46 M3 Cab top shock mounts (33526754096) - £33.30 pair
Pair of E30 rear beam bushes (33311129144) - £52.39 pair
Eccentric Trailing arm bushes (33329058822) - £16.12 per side
Pair of ARB bushes £5.68 pair
Pair of ARB drop links (33551126932) - £23.50 pair
ARB & Drop Link Fasteners Extra £8 per side (x2???)
3.0 / ZM3 Differential mounting bush (33172228425) - £21.34
This is quite a list. Which i'm prepared for, but the M3 Eccentric top mounts for the front are quite steep. Are they much more expensive than the normal E30 ones or do they make that much of a difference??
Also, the N/S and O/S Track control arm? What is that? Is it quite doubtfull i'll need one unless its actually totaled on my car?
If i dont need those control arms that saves nearly 200 off the list, and if the M3 top mounts are £94.41 a pair that will be fine, but for each one??? hmmm.
I want the suspension to be re-done but those extra prices involved there is the cost of all new suspension or 4 new brake disks etc.
I'm trying to make a 100% definitive list so i dont have to keep ordering bits from the UK as to claim back the VAT from the customs is a mission and would mean i'd have to do it more than once... ohh, does anyone know if the prices listed above include VAT?? because if they dont that'll be more on top and takes a few weeks to claim back!!
Any more help is appreciated lads!

From the wikki that Chris-W sent me! I assume some prices may change or be different. But nice to know as thats a possible 60 shaved off already!

The E36 ones are the same. the £85 ones are the e30 ones and the £25 ones are the E36 ones. Get the E36 ones and save £60Quote:

Where did you get that price??? I paid about £25 for the pair from our very own genuine parts supplier.
M3 top mounts give you more camber as they're offset. Ive got them on mine and i think it was about 1 3/4' negative camber last time i checked. It's lowered as well though. If you're serious about revamping the suspension then as the first reply says I'd look at the powerflex kit.

BMW cut the price of the E30M3 bushes a year or so ago (or quite possibly relabeled E36M3 ones!)
I'm trying to avoid powerflex mate. I'm trying to make a car that will last. I've heard bad things about powerflex bushes for average road use.geoffrey wrote:M3 top mounts give you more camber as they're offset.
