turned the heater on full, max temp and fan speed, as i thought the car was gonna overheat, nothing happens???
eventually get to my destination, turn the engine off, the fan comes on???
whats going on?

The engine fan is normally viscous driven off the engine, therefore can't run on after the engine is shut down. So there for i assume you mean the interior fan.
Does the fan work at all with the ignition on? have you had any electrical work done lately? new stereo etc??

just let me dad look at it, hes an auto sparky, all the relays had been moved arround, one was even there for no reason, problem now solved

When you say it sounds like a tractor do you mean the tappets or a misfire ?
I would surgest getting a compression test done and checking the timing marks on the crank and cam shafts line up.
Do you still have the flashing green lights ?
And dare i ask, the windows ?

all the electrical problems are now sorted, the noise sound like tappets, a friend of mine, who is a good bmw mechanic, said i need to replace the tappets, i was going to buy a set from ecp, but there are 2 different types
