this may seem an odd post, but i feel that i am ready now...

on May 22nd this year my wife and i lost our son- Nathan. he was still born at 40 wks +5 days.

he was our first baby and loosing him was the biggest shock of our lives and the hole left will never be filled.

i had a tattoo done a few months ago, and this sunday just gone, i had it added to.

i just wanted to let people know as i am sure i will mention nathan in the future, and also, its surprising how many people go thoguht the same sort of thing, but dont ever mention it.

i think it looks wicked. the hand prints are exact copies of the prints taken by the hospital... the top half will look the same as the bottm once its all healed up...

A great tattoo and personally it's what I believe tattoos are all about. Marking something significant.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. :(

With a very precious only daughter I can only start to think of what you and your wife are going through. Words would never be enough to describe the pain.

I'm not a fan os tattoos but if ever there was reason to have one, you've got it here. A really nice tribute and remider.

I recently lost my girlfriend of 6 years. We'd been apart for a while but were just reconciling when she died in a low speed car crash. I'd been lucky enough to never have lost anyone as close before. I'm really not a tatoo man but recently the idea has occurred to me to get something that meant something to the pair of us. Something to carry on my skin to remind me of the times we spent together.

My condolences to yourself and your other half, I hope life is moving forward for you now.

I did notice your signature tribute a while ago.

I couldn't imagining how hard something like that would be, its certainly something I hope me or loved ones around me would never have to deal with.

Its something that really annoys me when having Children is taken for granted, I wish you both all the best and hope you don't give up trying.

Sorry to hear of your loss mate, really feel for you both. Must be so difficult and only time will begin to heal the pain felt. The tats fantasic though, really cleaver and so significant as others have said. I'm thinking of getting a tribute tat and after reading this thread i'm convinced it's the right thing to do... Feel so bad for you but just wanted to say my bit, your a legend mate... I expect its helped a lot now you've spoken about it and recieved these messages in return,
Take care Neil

I have a 13 month old son who is the most precious thing in mine and my girlfriends life. She gets upset sometimes just at the thought of anything happening to him, i cant even begin to imagine the pain you have felt.

Our thoughts are with you.

Our world was shattered.
We now have two gorgeous kids who we both cherish.

Pamela and I would like to pass our condolences on to you and your wife too. Although we've never met (and probably, unfortunately, never will) your post has really touched us.

It's no help I expect but time is a great healer and perhaps, in time, you might be able to try for another baby; not to replace Nathan but simply to have another child.

Good luck sir.
