Done abit more today fitted the manifold properly
Fitted the dizzy plug with a new clamp
The dizzy plug still needs to be there as the dizzy also drives the oil pump from the cam

Also finished the heater pipes for the matrix

Had a mock up of the intercooler too it just about fits lol

Fuel system and boot install next up

Put the lift pump for the swirl pot together in a standard cradle ( thanks mick for that )
This pump will fill a 2ltr swirl pot in about 40secs , I'm going to be running twin bosch 044 pumps which will empty that swirl pot in 1.6 mins so it's plenty and will never run dry

Just waiting for the swirl pot to turn up now

Done abit of everything this week as work wasn't busy swirl pot has turned up and is now plumbed in

Just offering it up in the boot as I have to get filters on the end of these too

Had to machine my front brake bells out a little to fit over the 5 stud hub but not a problem, plus elongated the bolt holes a little as these bells were 5x114

So now back on to the rears as when I mocked these up before the brake shoes were showing from behind the disc

so I thought of a solution to this by machining the rear of the hub to bring the disc in further , but that was a no no as it would have only left 6 mm of meat to hold the rear together
So had another think I needed to bring the shoes and hand brake assembley forward, so why not make a spacer ?
So I did I needed about 8mm so I got some 8mm ali plate and started making some
This was the idea

So started chomping

Which turned out like this

And fitted like this

And with some longer bolts looked like this

So put it all together with the new hub

Hey presto

Just got to do the other side now , make caliper brackets and then on to the fronts

Well got the front wheel roughly where it needs to be, as the wheels were bigger I couldn't lower the car on the coilovers which left a rather hefty gap in the arch, so new springs had to be bought I went for 7" long 600lbs , bearing in mind the engine is roughly 500lbs
So that's 2" shorter than the standard gaz spring so it's gone from this

To this

Pretty much perfect by the time the full weight of the car is on the wheels

All my fuel line has now turned up so I can get that plumbed in and then start work on the front caliper brakets
It's getting there

Good work on the spacer, very easy to make something like that look rough and ready bit yours looks good! Well done!

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Just a few little updates
Caliper brackets are finished and calipers are now mounted

Fuel system in the boot is nearly finished , just need a return line back to the tank and bolt it down to the floor

New fuel lines are in and running from the front to the rear
Just need a few more bits for the engine now

Well I finially got round to fitting the front arb if you can remember I've re mounted it to the front of the subframe and used a e36 m3 arb but as I moved the rack forward on the subframe due to the linkage hitting the starter motor , it now with weight on the front the arb now hits the rack so I've altered another crossmember but now keeping the standard rack mounts, as I now have a even smaller starter motor and more room for the linkage

I've just got to clean the lower arms up now and repaint them and fit new drop links

Finished one caliper bracket today and got the lower arms done, can't do the other side yet as I've had to send my other strut back to gaz as its seemed to have lost its oil

Look at the shine on that
