Alpina B10

Forged custom mahle pistons (high comp)
M5 conrods
Flowed head with hemi combustion chambers
Larger valves
268 degree cam
Remapped ECU

Standard M30's make around 230 lb ft.

Im shocked myself and if it was a mobile rolling road type etc i wouldnt of believed it. It was done at Hi-Tech in Cradley heath who have a good rep and reliable rollers, our very own DanThe has used them with his black chromie.

He has worked on quite a few 80's BMW's including a B10 bi turbo so he is very familar with them, with what ive got he could basically re map it but it would move the power band more up the top end. He did mention that a 6 branch works wonders on these lumps though.

Pento. it ran a 14.2 this year with it running like a bag o shite. :)

Cant believe its pissin it down with rain outside. I want to let rip in it!

Hmm.. What comp ratio? Std is 221lbft, that's 64lbft (29%!) increase! Still seems a lot, however could be the headwork/cam/comp increase working together. Gareth got quite a high torque figure with his increased comp M30 iirc.

I take it he does live mapping too then.
Is this the one by the Train station, in the estate, but right at the back??

Im sure it 10. something. standard M30 compression is turbo territory, Gareths made 239lb ft iirc.

Rav, yes its by the train station.

Sounds a nice spec anyway.. Must go well! Potentially shows the restricted breathing of the std lump, and the value of headwork/cam/comp! Congrats.

want to put mime on the rollers but my local is evolve and they show far the generously.

Well I'm now thinking 3:25:1 LSD for mine as first is not worth using and 5th is screaming at 130+ so don't know what box you have but my 3:46 lsd will be avalible when sourced.

535 sport box I'm using btw.

Since when? Didn't Si take the Alpina to 2 rolling roads inc Evolve and got within a couple of BHP between the 2 results. I also believe most S50's that go on there make under factory power! :?

Wish I had that box! What have you got in at the minute? I went from a 3.91 and it made all the difference. With all the torque aswell, almost makes it quicker giving it somthing to pull.

I think I know what you mean. I'm currently using an M10 box with a 3.91 diff, the diff ratio is actually matched to the box, but my standard M30 is making short work of it and I'm through the rev range too quickly. I'm sure making most of the torque available with a longer diff will make it quicker. I'm tempted to drop down to a 3.64.

Imo a 3.64 is the perfect diff for a standard M30. 1st is just about usable. :)

Went up with a few guy's from ur racing. Every single one of them made more power than they even dreamed. one that sticks out in my mind is a import cilica making 286 bhp @ evolve when it is box standered and gets ripped up by a standered 1.6 corsa !!! then the leon cupra r with a chip and de-cat making 291.5 ? then 310bhp Fiesta rst !! come on. I leave this dude standing with out nos. And it's not the drivers belive me.
Think they need a check over.

Both Simon and me had our E30's on Surrey rolling road and Evolves on the same day and they were a couple of BHP/lbft apart.

That was in 2008 though.

F*ck me, that is a blinding result Lee!

Great news that you got to the bottom of the running problem. These old AFM's can be problematic and or poorly adjusted. I had to change the one on the B10 as it was running to rich even when fully adjusted to lean it off.

Good replacement AFM and its spot on now.

BTB six branch next?!

ITB's will need to come from the M88 or S38, and the adaptor plate from Germany Lee.

An M88/S38 six branch has different port flanges with 4 studs per port and as far as i know it wouldn't fit anyway.

Some guy on here with a white M30'd cabrio has a BTB six branch and full system so it wouldn't be a prototype you were getting.

Might even be worth trying a group buy now that there are plenty of M30 E30's on here.

Yes, That would be Martin. iirc it doesnt clear an E36 rack though (which i have) but it did do well on the rollers. 8)

Ad from a1bmw spent ages getting a 6 branch. He ended with the btb for 800 or more

The m88 six branch has the same port spacing. Cut a new flange out, have it nicely welded and you might save your self a few quid?
