Well i just finished off the surround and fired one up.... Stuuuupid amount of excursion and low bass for a 4"er will get some vids up when i can figure out how in 3gp format but for now, heres a few photos
Wanted: Any old component speakers, complete or separate parts, let me know what you got
Bit rough around the edges (and everywhere else !!) but they work a treat, re-doing te rubber surround as we speak though cos the 1st one was restricting cone movement and iv told you before, only one set being made and theyre for me!!!! lol unless you can find me the bits

Cheers bud, its only a first build atm, to see if the theory would work, and it does lol. Iv already started tidying them up now, but the ridged rubber surround will be staying

Having trouble lining up the surround atm, but the bass is there, just a little bit 'noisy' instead of clean bass. They will be boxed up eventually, one running in an old Creative pc sub box atm and its quite worrying the amount of bass coming from it will probably go bandpass when theyre finished though

Sati: wouldn't mind trying bud 15" would be a mission and a half to get under control so has the rest of it (ie coil, suspension, and cone) been removed or just fubared???

well had the sub in sealed box, rms of sub was 250rms but was wired to an 500rms amp and it lasted for 1day before it sourround gave up then coil/former. so its just the basket and magnet which is removable i think 6 screws. the magnet got sum weight to it 2x40oz i led to belive, iam in rewiring my gt3-15 were the tensile leads gave up. so in the car is a cheap £30 12" sony explode 380rms on the same amp and it takes it fine. not given up yet, tryed blowing it (maxed out volume, gain , bass boosted +12db, headunit bass on max) and it was maxing out but still play's fine. so looks like sony anit as bad every says they are.
Yeah but those sonys have a stupid peak power rating like 1200w so your still nowhere near killing it IMO
On the subject of the 15" i wont be trying that for a while as iv now started another project... Getting a good full range sound (including bass ) from a 2" cone will try and post a vid up later on of these new ones up and running

well i will wire it to my orion d5000 1000w rms at 4 ohm or 2500w rms at 1 ohm iam sure it will put it to sleep for good. full range from an 2" thats 20hz - 20,000hz your on about.
Well, i say 'full range' like a similar sound to a 5 or 6" two way co-axial speaker in-car, so i suppose 'broad range' would be a better term. Il be happy if i can get 80hz up to 20+Khz

lol, how about a recone kit from an orion hcca subwoofer? rated at 2k rms will take 5krms before it goes. an 1 ohm 6" sub with silly x-max ,lol time to mess around with an old 4" kenwood, and an 12" jbl
