Well done Ollie, great buy
Can you pack showing off about the ebay bargain
. You ought to let me have it for £18 and then put the money towards lowering springs

Jim sitting on the bonnet did a good enough job of lowering so i'll keep the wheel.
I love ebay sometimes.

Any thoughts on how you'd go about it?

Eibach springs are a good choice and they are quite cheap if i was you i would just leave the standard dampers in there if youe lowering it 35mm should drive just fine that way. Other bits to replace at the same time are the anti roll bar drop links only £15 the pair from GSF and fit a rear anti roll bar that will improve things 10 fold.Ollie_bwoii wrote:Looking into how i'll go about lowering it, with what parts etc... atm.

And buy the way its a nice looking car. When you get the springs bring it round to me and i will fit them for a box of stella

If I fit a rear ARB to my 316i on standard suspension will it make a big difference?town325i wrote:Eibach springs are a good choice and they are quite cheap if i was you i would just leave the standard dampers in there if youe lowering it 35mm should drive just fine that way. GSF do some lowering springs for my car for about 60 quid, but I don't know what make they are.
Was it just the front dampers you have for a 316 town?
My car doesn't currently have a rear ARB, but would benefit from one definately.
I may take you up on that offer sometime dude, couple a boxes would be well worth the result.

You should notice a hell of alot of difference and they are not to bad to fit the hardest part being getting it around the diff which was a pain in the arse last time i fitted one.Blitz wrote:If I fit a rear ARB to my 316i on standard suspension will it make a big difference?town325i wrote:Eibach springs are a good choice and they are quite cheap if i was you i would just leave the standard dampers in there if youe lowering it 35mm should drive just fine that way. Gsf lowering springs are more for show then performance tbh i had a set on my last car and they where crap if you can afford to save up go for the better brands like H&R or Eibach and you wont be disappointedOllie_bwoii wrote:GSF do some lowering springs for my car for about 60 quid, but I don't know what make they are.![]()

Ollie nice to meet you yesterday - car looks good
When you do the springs, budget for the E46 M3 Cab rear top mounts ( About £35 - cotswold ) and Lemforder front droplinks ( ECP or GSF - don't let them sell you the cheapshit ones ! ) along with whatever the springs cost.

Penny jar has started for some springs, and rear ARB's, but in the mean time:
370mm Tec1 wheel is here.
Wheel will be going on the car shortly, although the gearknob will not.

Plus thanks to Jim and Adi, the headunit is now in and working so I no longer have a gaffa taped up hole.

Off out in a bit, so let's see what its like to drive with the smaller wheel.
I'm guessing it will make the lack of power steering a little worse when it comes to parking?
I actually see what you mean Dan.

Now I know how to fit the 6 button it's probably a 25 minute job in total!!Barx325i wrote:to be fair the 6 btn is no more than an hours faffing but they are quite pricey now..Ollie_bwoii wrote:Is an anologue clock better? Can't be fafed with putting in an OBC.
Was a pain in the arse to begin with though

your car looks very clean ollie, what a result on the tech1 wheel
your beige leather seats really suit the car i'd be happy with them and call it job done on that one.
bbs are needed as said and in SILVER.it will look and drive much better lowered 40mm when you get round to it.good luck with the work front m8.

Cheers Mick.
Right now that I don't have an income, but still want to progress with my car I have done some jobs that cost me next to nothing.
Petrol seal needed replacing badly, So got a good used one from kedge and cleaned it up a bit.

Nervous moment, but luckily no rust just years of durt. I cleaned it all up and painted it up with hammerite. I will flat it back and polish it up to get it looking aok.

Also been cleaning up the boot, yet to finish, but waxoiled just the wells, and important areas, the rest will get a coat of black hammerite, like what I've started.

Not much but it's fulfilling my needs of working on the car.
