secondtimelucky: i'm on sunnyside rd, a bit down from the railway station. have recently acquired a mauritius blue 316i touring. you wouldn't happen to know/be the green 318i automatic touring that's often parked across the road, would you? I still haven't managed to see who owns it as yet

I reckon it would be an interesting retrofit if it could be made to work, though.

I've only been here about 18 months, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it once at least--but I wasn't on the lookout for e30s at the time! tbh, I usually walk or cycle around Weston so you're more likely to see the car out and about on trips to the New Forest or mtb races!
back on topic again, I've been doing a bit of looking around and it seems the better matches are usually older head units, or slightly scary budget/OE ones. What of those is likely to offer decent (sound) quality? The Nakamichis look fab in my opinion... Certain Clarion and Alpine units look good, but the lighting doesn't always match, which is a drawback in the context of this thread.

The car is an E39 5 series mate, was just to give an idea on colour match.
I still think the new Pioneer 5000UB looks the best if you want to keep things like MP playback etc. The Amber is an almost perfect match.
The other option is the Becker Traffic Pro, BMW branded version, looks right in the dash too, very old skool.

Becker = quality. Sat Nav's a rather useful thing to have too! Mine doesn't play MP3 CDs, but it does have an aux-in, so who cares?

See trouble I'm having is finding a amber illuminated unit with:
bluetooth for the phone
ipod in and controls
hidden cd tray thing
that looks good in an e30!

Becker Grand Prix in the red is very close to BMW amber and does all the above.
This is the RED traffic pro, although the harman badged version for the US market.

Here is the indianapolis in RED, this is the same as the Gran Prix but with Nav, will take an ipod adapter, and has built in bluetooth.
