6th item down, a whopping 84p each (+vat) i assume these would do the job?

Uwe, do you have a total length to make the 'mount' and length of bolt i will need? or is it a case of taking a mount of and measuring it which is a bit more of a pain when you're using the car every day. :D
I can only tell you the M3 height which is 74mm.

The S14/M3 mounts are hydro and compress a little under load. I have clamped one in the vice to see how "low" they will go. First I had the mounts 71mm but had to fit another 3mm stainless disk to ge the height back to 74mm, otherwise Carbon airbox would sit on mastercylinder.

Bolt is a M10x100mm 12.9 from local engineering supplies. You will need to cut the thread on the bolts further down, they only have 40mm thread.
Usually I make a drawing of everything, but not this time

Good practise would be to use a "castle" nut and drill a hole through the bolt to accept a cotter pin. Or just double nut and threadlocker, mine is still ok and if the S14 doesn't get it loose no other BMW engine will :D

Don't tighten the bolts too strong, it will VIBRATE. But only idle is bad, as soon as you drive it's fine. I have DRIVEN the car to the Ring and back and had no pins and needles or whatever. In a SPARCO bucket seat!

I use the OEM gearbox mounts, never got round to add something different. Didn't bother as DaveG is also running OEM gearbox mounts for donkey's years and never had a problem. He reported that since he uses this arrangement his propshaft guibo is without any cracks or tears. And that a track only M3. So I figured if it works for him, it will be good enough for me :D (I do pamper and love my M3, sees 8k revs every time...)

I used to play ice hockey and never thought in a million years that i'd see a puck as an engine mount!

They're made of galvanised rubber, so i'm not surprised they don't break. They won't die ever as an engine mount! They're made to be shot around a rink @80mph, might aswell be bit of concrete as they hurt when they hit you!

Jim
all depends on price really, from a link above, 6 pucks are only £5something, but the only delivery option is a £6.50 signed for service, which seems a bit ott.

i'd be happy with normal royal mail standard parcels, but have to admit i don't really know how much a puck weighs :D

if you think you can do 6 including p&p for a tenner or so then i'm in 8)

Hmm

£1.10 each in the shop. Weight comes to just over 1kg. Recorded 1st class post is £4.95 so £11.55 is the best I can do. Parcels is same price as recorded first. Parcelforce will do next day 9AM for £40.95 - no wonder the business is going down the pan!

If I had a lot to buy i could argue the toss over the price difference between web and shop, but the difference would have to cover my minimal expenses on tape labelling and time to go and stand in the post office queue.

So I have one set for £11.55 now, if you want more start a list!

i'll take a set, but understand if it's not really worth the effort for you and you decide not to bother 8)

we use uprated engine mounts on the rwd challenge.they are available from phil at power developments on 01246240632.ive run them for two and half years without problems, doing some very rough rallies.when you uprate the bushes we have had the lugs on the crossmember crack off allowing the engine to drop onto the crossmember, jamming the steering!!!!!.also the alloy engine mounts can shear.weve replaced them with fabricated steel ones.

the only person i know that has ever broke the alloy engine mounts the ones on the engine is on a e36 m3 evo race car which was running SOLID engine mounts

so cant see this being a problem imo for track day use

i will try to get some pucks asap to try this

OK chaps, lets get this sorted.

Who wants 6 hockey pucks, delivered to you for £11.55 - if you wanted to round up to £12 I wouldn't say no, and if its coming via paypal I'll want a bit extra to cover their fees anyway.

So here's a list, fill your names in!
