As above! I've still got my Z3 2.8 shifter on the car, but I think it's catching on something when I nail it in first or second... Has anyone had the same issue? Don't really want to swap to a 1.9, & there's no way I'm going back to standard! Can you 'adjust' (ie bend / grind!) the gear linkage for more clearance?

You can bend the lever up to a point. If you bend the lever too much the gear lever will be too far from neutral position to work I would have thought.

Is it catching on the prop donut surround? (you can remove the surround and just leave the donut)

What surround?! It caught on the M20 one so I junked it straight away (years ago)... The M30 one's significantly bigger though. Need to have a look at where it's catching, but I certainly suspect it's there.

I remember looking at the lever with the thought of bending it when I originally fitted it, but I wasn't convinced it would be doable to any worthwhile extent...

Ziggy, your cab is a pre facelift iirc, if so im sure there is an article somewhere on here that describes having to bend the lever slightly for pre facelifts.

Having said that, you have a completeley different gearbox with the M30 so it may well be different from the original pre facelift problem.

i have no vibration damper on my m30 and i have a z3 1.9 shifter and it's all fine. very slick too and still a worthwhile upgrade over the standard one though probably not quite as good as the 2.8 one...

Don't know where cabs fit in to that - they're pre-facelift in some ways & post in others! Didn't need to bend it with the m20 anyway...

As above, I don't have one... The vibration damper would have hit on an m20 guibo, - no chance with an m30 sized one! Guess I'll be giving bending it a go... :?

Myself & E30Adam drove his car with the 1.9 & mine with the 2.8 on the same day (as fitting mine!) - I don't know if he ever got round to upgrading, but he was planning it at the time... :)

Standard ones are just 'orrible!
