Went to go for a drive in my car on saturday, but it wouldn't start! Hmmm
What is this this I ask? Its the first time in four years when the car hasn't at least started......
Hmm probably the battery i think...and the failing remote central locking confirmed this. Damm
Hmmm currently i don't have "home start" just roadside and relay assistance, so it was up to me to sort it out, should be that hard i think!
Car is parked in maida vale, didn't have acces to my girlfriends flat at that mo so though i would carry the battery in my rucksack to mine...so i can charge it.
Cycling through Oxford Circs etc etc is useually pretty "fun" but with the added "funs" of a car battery on your back, it was even more fun! (Can move around etc etc)
Tried charging battery, and took it back to car, still didn't work!! Battrey must be F*cked....
I then cycled to GSF on harrow road (bout 4 miles away) to get a new one... On the way back my Front brake of my bike decided to break! at a junction, I went flying over (lcukly no traffic...)
Car now fixed, but bike now broken! ARhhhh! Bikes worth more than the car as well!! Oh well now its the cars turn to play "RAC"......
A completetly pointless post i know but i'd thought i share it with you all!
Oh are GSF own make batterys any good? just though'd i'd get a cheapo one for a while...
Is 4 years pretty good for a battery? (it was also some cheapo make...)

If anyone is interested it was the end of the "noddle" (A on the pic) that sheared in half. Its the flared bit at then end which goes into the pivot on the top of the brakes (by B). It failed completely without warning (as i do cheack these things...) not particualry impressed with Shimano.... Has been to Kenya, Spain, France, Italy, and Wales mind and is about 5 years old...but it shouldn't fail in such a bad way! any way

Made me laugh!
On a slightly more serious note, a girl I worked with had her brakes break(!) and she crashed because of it, hurt herself quite badly..She took the company that sold her the bike to court , they in turn went thru the manufacturer and in the end she won quite a bit of compensation from them!

I've found that car batteries just seem to die after 3-4 years and no amount of charging ever recovers them.

I have also tried magura's on a mates bike, easy to set up but damm expensive! Don't really see the point in them as a well set up V-brake is just as good..until it breaks!
If i was going to spend that much on brakes i'd save up for good disc's such as "hope" or something
Karan, yes things are for from going my way at the mo! Oh well. No chance to fit the springs yet, probably later this month though. Can't wait as it needs to go down a little more!
Decided not to replace the panels until my girlfriend has done a little more driving.......! (she's learning....) THey don't look that bad at the minuite.

Gwynleym10-5 years for your bike brakes and you'r complaining?!
TBH, i'd say that was a fair innings for the part-maybe change them every 4 years from now on....

I've sent the bits off to shimano anyway as i don't think they should fail like that. See what happens!
I'm just glad it did't happen when i was coming down from 9000ft in Kenya on some track as i probably wouldn't be here!
If it was a car i think there would def be law suits.

i know 5 years is a long time, but the are XTR's which cost me well over Ԛ£60 just for the fronts...(and not the leavers...!) Oh and i have changed the pads every year at least...
