I do get the chrome bumpers, they just suit the M tech I and normal type I E30's, but I don't get the red grill.

When I was a lot,lot younger I had a Morris 1000 pick up. I painted it yellow (donated by an unknowing RAF) with black wings, and a RED front grille. I thought it looked

I think the Tech 1 is the nicest kit of all, but got to agree with the red grille.

How about black grille with the top- and bottom-most slats red as on Mk1 Golf GTi...?
I'll reserve judgement till I've seen the wheels and decals, but it just seems a bit extreme at the moment. Just my opinion, it's your car.

The red grill....

....why?!

Also, why put chrome bumpers (and leave the shadow line trim around the windows on) on a car that looks like its had shadow line from new?

One last thing, loose them gay wiper blades!

LoL
no red decals nah, but will have red edging around gloss black wheels, just to break up black tyres black wheels..
will also have fully chromed again around windows when i can locate some,

i know its not to peoples taste (be boring if we all liked the same thing) but as ive the original grills and wipers safely stored away and also indicators front lenses etc, i can change my car back to almost factory in under 5 mins anyway.... spose the main thing is i like it though :D

if you notice the grassed area in the first pic, i have to go over that to get to the road and my drive, so no point in cleaning the wheels in winter as its like a bog.. she only goes out a handful of times anyway, so might clean them this weekend for picture value.

deffo agree with the wiper blades, even im not liking them to much,, but ive got to keep them on for a bit to justify to my partner why i paid so much for them (no they aint cheap ripspeed rubbish)

dude do what you want, but if I was gonna paint a grill, it would be shiny jet black or matt black! but it's your call..tech1 kit looks very nice and the window trim would look nice in chrome like bbs325i said.

Reminds me of my first E30, a 320i 4-door in Henna Red with colour-coded grilles.

I notice you've swapped to the later Smiley headlamps winkeye

not took any in though (lol) as this is my car and it's mine to do with as i please.....

one thing that gets me tho... why is it that i cant paint my grill... yet its fine to paint over bumpers and window trims.... bmw had them chrome ..so most of you have done worse than me in changing this...?

if its cuz every one else follows allowed rules of what you can and cant do on your own car because it fits in with a desired acceptable norm,.. then im glad im different....

(i own a e30 ..so im not allowed to make it look different, even if a few people like it, cuz i might get told off...lol  winkeye jealously springs to mind... but i never said that winkeye :D
The use of text speak sums up the decision to paint it red...

change what you like, it's your car after all. but then don't get a strop on because you post up pics and other people don't like something you've done.

if you like it, who cares what everyone else thinks?

dechroming chrome is hardly in the same league either, later cars came from the factory with black trim instead of chrome.

i personally think the grille looks a bit daft, but it's not my car, i don't have to drive it so my opinion doesnt matter in the slightest :D
cheers,

harry

I'm not a fan of the Red grille mate, but even then i wouldn't slate you for it. Really I should've added after my first comment, it's your car after all, do as you please, especially if your happy with it! Take no offence mate. As for personal slur's, not needed, I agree!

Personal slurs? Where exactly? I mearly pointed out two decisions which were similarly poor. If you're so sensitive, perhaps you should think twice before asking for peoples opinions?

For the record, the rules clearly state to avoid using text speak. I don't think communicating like adults is asking too much, though with some erstwhile childish reactions, it's clear to see why some may struggle.....

Im not going to turn it into an argument, but when you state "The use of text speak sums up the decision to paint it red..." what's that got to do with anyone painting something Red? I'm sure mod's are here to enforce the rule about using text speak

I've seen alot worse though.

FFS read before you hit the post reply button, I've already answered that! Using text speak was a poor decision, painting it red was a poor decision. If that's not clear, let me know what you don't understand and I'll try to explain it to you.....
