great day out and great to meet everyone and catch up as always.

was NOT impressed with overzealous marshalling resulting in 4 black flags!!! the marshalling was very silly and they all need to take lessons from marshalls at other proper tracks.

track did not really suit the car either as it wanted to go sideways everywhere which the marshalls obviously did not like even with minimal angle

for the first time ever with current brake setup i managed to get a longer pedal and also warped my front discs!

great ride in everetts touring rocket and theos car was awesome too....soo much grip.

looking forward to seeing some pics

Cheers for the pax laps Karan, i love that silvia! I need more power to keep up with you on the straights, think you were a good 10mph quicker down that long straight.

Theo, we didn't chat today but I remember the car. On my last session we were both out but I had to majorly slow down (on the out lap!) and let you pass since my front pads were down to the metal!!!

My front pads just kept going (ebc reds) and I have to say I am delighted with the braking on the car. I was continually over braking despite making a concerted effort to brake later.

If you enjoyed your car in road spec, you will love it stripped out with some decent seats and harnesses.

It was good - blinding weather and the 320i was doing well although the tyres went squidgy after 4-5 hard laps. I got home at 5.51, 9 mins before the insurance expired!

BMW Car Club are doing Cadwell end of April - anyone up for that?

think il leave the e30 as a one trick mway wonder for the time being...
as for the silvia plan of attack is:
r888s wide size plus archwork to suit
rosejointed lower front and rear arms to widen track-whole car wil be rose joined then.
then build a forged engine and put a gt30r turbo on it and crack 500bhp--muahaha, then blow it up and cry

Not for me at 80.4 dB which made me laugh. However, not so for one guy in his Sierra Cosworth and possibly some others.

There was a standard gt3 that got blacked flagged and wasnt allowed back on, that was the only one i think?

K that would be one almighty car! I have to give testiment to theo's council wagon though, it really was heroic except the rather worrying steering play on the way home!

Im up for cadwell no doubt!

Also did about 150 track miles. Only car injury was front pads down to the metal backing plate - it was an excruciating drive home. Oh, and the front tyres are now illegal. At least we got a full track day out of the original parts. In a couple of weeks time a set of GAZ coilovers, Performance Friction pads and Nitrac discs, Whiteline ARBs, OMP buckets and a full strip will happen before Marham.

K, cadwell is a mish, what day are you doing brands? Definately up for that.

From memory, theos car had:
1) Ridiculous play in the steering when turning right, but not when turning left.
2) Blowing exhaust

thats about it?

My tacho, interior light and clock all stopped working in the last session of the day, not worried though, probobly just a wire come adrift.

Obviously i didn't notice the clock and the light stopping whilst on the track though ! :)

Looks like you all had an awesome day. I would have loved to hav been there but I was at Cadwell (http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... ic&t=93056)

Andy - I'm well up for Cadwell at end of April. We stayed in a travel lodge that was about 30mins drive away - 51quid for a room of 3 or 4

Just checked over the car, the worrying lay in the steering is down to a mullered rubber disc in the steering coupling - will replace that with a metal one I think.

My front pads have gone down alot and now have a strange sort of greeny/yellow crust on the edges - what the hell is that about? The front pads also seem not to have worn evenly across the pad, they are thicker at the top than the bottom (might be the other way round, already forgotten)

Other than that I have a blowing exhaust and the diff is a little wet around the speedo sensor area.

Few more mods lined up for the next trackday, strengthened front subframe, faster steering rack, rose jointed droplinks, correct length gear selector rod, ds2500's, adjustable front top mounts, hartge rear billies and functioning VDO guages.

hey theo mate.

I was running ds2500s and I kept cooking them after about 7/8 laps at cadwell. I was recommended to go for ds3000s as they stand up to the heat a bit better. Maybe an option for you ?

I was told DS3000's munch discs, so went for the ds2500's instead. I wasn't getting much brake fade, only on a couple of occasions did the brakes feel a little less effective than before but this could have been down to the tyres gettting a bit hot.

Just looked at your cadwell photos - good to hear you served some more powerful cars!

The guy at the track has some good photos - including a run of a about 5 consecutive ones where I locked the brakes going in to the hair-pin on the first lap after sighting. lol. I'll post them up soon.

I guess if you didn't get fade then it's all good. My ds2500s were also down to the last quarter of material so perhaps that probably didn't help. Apart from that I've been really pleased with them. They did a great job at Brands - but that wasn't on semi-slicks.

You were running R888s did somebody say?
