I have just aquired a race technology DL1 data logger and I'm wondering what existing sensors/senders I can tap into.

I plan on adding Rev and Oil temp and I'm thinking I can pickup brake on/off just from the brake lights but what else is there ?

Has anybody picked up Water temp, Air temp from the default sensors ?

Is there any throttle, air temp or brake travel sensors ?

The car is a 1989 318i without ABS

Any bright ideas appreciated :)

Hi,

I have an older model and connected:

-- rpm via coil fed (read the manual)
-- throttle position (but have a different throttle pot with 0-5Volt) you will not be able to do this unless you fit a second pot (from scrappy any pot will do which gives a volt signal)
-- brake light (from brake light switch)
-- AFR from my wideband lambda

I am not sure about the rest but think you can just tap in paralell.

Make sure you mount the logger dead square, otherwise reading are funny. You can check for alignment with the monitor software

You can obviously tap into any 5v signal.

meaning

AFM
Air temp
coolant temp (using a 5v supply, say from the afm´s 5v´s, and a 1Kohm resistor between the 5v and coolant signal)
With great challenges comes great engineering.

Just a question please, why the resitor?
