Would it be best to bridge and amp and have it at 2 ohms or run it at 4 ohms. my speakers can handle 75w and the amp im looking at produces 2x50w and 2x100w bridged
what are the pros and cons for them both

the speakers dont take 2ohms, the amp does the two ohm, if its two ohm stable then you can run two speakers off each channel, giving more power. i think alex has a 4 channel amp of 4x50 watts and wants to brige the channels to make 2 more powerfull ones to power the 6x9s. Which..while i think about means the 2 ohm statement is irrelevent lol
Alex: If im right you want to bridge a four channel amp and run your 6x9s off the two bridged more powerfull channels. So 2x100watt rms amplifier to 2x75 watt rms speakers with 225watt peak, dont do it.... you will after a short time blow the speakers, use 2x50 watt rms to the 6x9s and 2x50watt to your front speakers

so if i amp the speakers with a 50wx4 rms will i not get the full potential out of the speakers since there 75w rms

I would say do it.
As long as you set the gains correctly you will be fine, you will just have less distortion and more headroom at the volume you want to get to.
A 4 channel amp that is 50wpc rms will look something like this...
4 x 50 into 4 ohms
4 x 75 into 2 ohms
2 x 100 into 4 ohms bridged
2 x 150 into 2 ohms bridged (if it can be bridged into 2 ohms, many can't)
What is the rest of your set up. best bet would be run the fronts off two channels and bridge a sub off channels 3 and 4.
Or
Run the front speakers off channels one and two and then run some decent 6x9's (like the genesis ones) but with all frequencies above about 400 cut, so they are just producing mid bass and not dragging the top end into the back of the car.

It is a 2 channel amp, so bridging it means you can only drive one speaker mate.
So in this case, just set it up in stereo mode, stereo will sound far better than mono!!

i agree with the above details but to get the amp running two ohms you will need two speakers running off each channel, so: if yours has speaker holes in the back, run front and rear components (preferably the same models) off your four channels (4 ohm 4x50watts rms) and another amp to get bass in there if you havent already got one
will give you a very balanced sound with much more volume than head unit power and alot more quality

Haha.
One thing I will say, if you have good speakers and amp you really will get a better sound just running fronts and just bass from the rear (actually bass from the front would be better but not practical for most) or just fronts if they go pretty low.
If the amp/speakers etc. is not great than speakers in the rear help fill the cabin and generally sound better than just fronts.

not if the speakers are identical models ie e30 has same size front and rear. Alex has good speakers and a good amp to run em. Why would BMW put speakers in the back if it sounds better with just fronts??

Because the head unit the car comes with and the speakers are pants.
I have just taken out an Alpine 9887r, Genesis Profile 4 Ultra, Rainbow Components and an Aliante 10Si Sub from my 5 series, and I can guarantee you that you wouldn't believe there were only speakers in the front, the sound stage was massive, vocals and beats up in front of the bonnet and the rest of the sound filled the car completely.
The locations of the speakers in the E30 make it hard to put a decent system in for SQ, you really do need time alignment to get a decent soundstage.
I have just bought an Audison SRx3 amp and some DLS speakers for up front and some Earthquake 8" shallow mount subs, this is to put in my sport touring (E91) that has subs under the seats. I will disconnect the rear speakers completely, I want the soundstage to come from the front, half way up the windscreen and slightly onto the bonnet, last thing I want is for sound to come from behind me, and even more so when you can't delay it so it arrives at the same time as the sound from the front speakers.
