E46 318i Tuning

Hi,

I have a friend who wants to tune his engine & get a few extra bhp.

What can I adjust? I've told him like a chip & exhaust. Is there anything else?

I did also mention it's not really worth tuning unless you have a 325/6 pot

What year it is or more precisly which engine: M43 or N42 engine?

It's the earlier in the E46 series.

There was a nice tuned 318ci in Total BMW a couple of months back - remap, high-lift cam and new exhaust was meant to give an increase of 20bhp. Not bad when you've only got 118bhp to start with.

The M43 is the engine to have. The later Valvetronic is unfixable junk.
