Possible since 1985 Second Generation & Car CD players were introducted though in 1984 only 800,000 CD's were sold in all of America to be played on the Gen1 players.

Cool so it is possible then? the only reason im asking is I remember someone on here asking a similar question (couldnt find the topic using search) and they mentioned VDO head units as standard equipment in some e30s.

I found one today at a carboot and paid a tenner for it, looks very well suited ill post a pic up in a min

There was a Pioneer Cassette/Radio + 6CD Changer in my old 325i SE, pretty sure they came factory fitted on some cars

There was never such an option in this county, you could get a Multichanger in the US as an expensive optional extra and thats about it im afraid

That cd player above^^^^^ looks far to modern, looks more late 90's

yep mine had orange illumination too, I came across the same exact setup on another 325i SE and have come across a few on here, which is why I thought they were factory fit

mabey bmw fitted them as an accesory after they built the cars then,

My Sport had that fitted from new - got the bill for it and the vehicle receipt with all the service history.

OEM CD player was the Bavaria Electronic, there were two version, the Bavaria II being the later one.

Got an old pioneer in mine lights up orange and looks period although i know the car never came with it new.

A BMW business CD player from the E36 fits straight in - slot loading player. Looks OEM too - not got any photos of it in, but this is what it looks like

I really like the OEM look best, just a a shame you can't add a usb stick or an ipod.

Yeah i know what you mean, i got lucky with mine... it plays mp3s (well, when it wants to anyway)
