Sponge....

Hi, I was walking down my road at uni, and saw a bloke polishing his E36, he was using some autoglym product which is fair enough....

To apply it he was using what looked to be a large sponge? It looked to spread the polish around well...Just wondering if someone could enlighten me on what it is please? And where I couold perhaps get a cheap one to try...

I use meguiars applicators which are round sponges, does spread well and also means you don't waste loads as you would using a cloth as the surface area is always the same, whereas a cloth would need to be folded etc.

You say large sponge, the applicators i use fit in your palm.

Thats brill thank you I shall do a bit more googling....

It looked about the size of two hands together with a different surface on each side? Or at least thats what it looked like.

He may have been using a normal sponge then, like the one's that have the glass cleaning surface on the other side to remove bug splatter

The meguiars one's aren't solid all the way through (it's like 2 circles stitched together) so don't soak up what ever your applying, this means that you waste less. It's also really soft so gives a good spread without the streaky lines you get when using a cloth.

You could just basically knock on the mans door and ask him what he uses.. Before you punch him in the nose!
