The photo is from a 1986 316 auto.

Image

pin 1 blue, Alternator
pin 7 green, ignition power feed
pin 13 green/violet, fuel pump feed
pin 18 black/yellow, starter feed

They are what you need to connect to get it running.

No I don't know where you can get them all, there are only a few more pins actually used on this model.
These pins are from a chrome bumpered pre facelift car.

ok, i've got it to turn over.
i've got a spark.
the fuel pump DOESNT prime, but it pumps while turning over.
theres pressure behind the fuel line as i found out when it blinded me when i took it off.
why would the injectors not be firring?
could it be i have no alternator wire?

If you've got a spark and the fuel pump runs when turning over then I would make sure the fuel pipes are the right way around.

I don't think pressurised fuel tanks have been used on cars since about 1905! Whatever is wrong with your car is NOT caused by a hole in the fuel tank!
Which connection on the fuel rail do you have the fuel supply pipe connected to?

the supply i have to the connection near the bulk head, sorry if i dont make much sence i'm possibly still drunk. i've tried it on both ends though.
could it be thats it had run out of petrol and from what i was told if a bm runs out of petrol it takes it a while to get going again....and it probably doesnt help the engien has been sat up for nearluy 2 years

Is it even trying to fire? Popping back or starter suddenly speeding up?

Connections sound right - the fuel return pipe is the one that comes from the pressure regulator.
If you have two year old petrol in the tank it's not going to help things - the lighter fractions of the distillate can evaporate over time in a vented tank.
