It must have been a struggle not chuck it in a nice big high speed drift! Is that why all the pictures after it are with the car stopped, you just got depressed and gave up :D

What polish do you use to achieve that mirror like finish winkeye

Give the spare wheel well a couple of coats of hammerite for X's sake!

Nice action shots. I'd remove the headlamp aim adjusters to save a few ounces...

I see you've folded your seats flat to save weight..... :snigger:

Your pet photographer does a great job on your car. I'd put money on him quite liking it? It comes across in his work.

Tracking shot? Did you mean panning shot? It's a nice crisp job, especially as the car is moving on two plains. My guess is the car was barely rolling?

You mind if I monochrome the first two? The blown out sky could be hidden by a conversion..

lol @ pet photographer.... these are from the pbmw shoot.

The photographer called it a tracking shot... he was hanging out the window of his van following me at about 40mph.

this one...

Image

The other action ones of it sideways were taken by him either standing on the inside of the corner, or laying on the floor about half a mile away with a BIG lens.

monochrome all you want... I dont own the copyright so I couldnt care less

Ahhh, yes then tracking it is. I'll have a craic soon enough. I'm going to geek about playing Battlefield 2142 online. By the time I unplug, this place will be down....

Any idea what camera is used to achieve these shot? Love the way the light/flash makes the interior/engine shots glow without making it blurred.

LOL at the mangled IS lip!

It'll be a DSLR of some sort, with a flash gun or speed light of some discription. The light appears to be diffused, but some shadows around the engine bay say a flash was used.

Cannot see that the lens is particularly wide, not sure how much post processing has been done, the images are sharp as a knife. Well executed.

probably a couple of off camera flashes with diffusers, or maybe a couple of freestanding lamps and a well placed reflector or two. then again, with the matt paint the exterior shots may have been lit directly as you're not going to get the brightspot problems you do on a nice glossy shiney car :D

all the moving shots are way too overexposed for my liking, but i guess they need to be to keep some detail on the black on black on black car. i'm assuming they'll recieve a fair bit of post production before they make it to print.

love those wheels, really bring the whole car together, make it look hard as nails rather than just a matt black estate :D

can i just ask why you're going to ditch the spare wheel well? you may save a few grammes (and it wont be much) but you'll lose strength, increase noise, have more gaps for water to get in and rot to start, lose somehere handy to bung a wheel, all for no real gain
cheers,

harry

The wheel well... its more than a few grammes.

I'm building it up as a full blown track car, every gram will count as I'm aiming to get it under a ton. The strength lost will be compensated by an FIA spec roll cage/strut braces etc.

I'll be cutting the sunroof 'cage', rear door inner skins, boot skin etc out too.

The camera setup...

camera info from the jpegs says it was a Canon EOS 5D.

The shots here are the raw originals, but there was a lot of 'shopping done to the ones in the magazine.

I need to learn potato shop. I'm gradually getting to grips with it, very slowly and still can only manage fundamentals. I want to nail HDR, should make for spectacular automotive stuff.

i dont know what you're talking about...

I know they smoothed out a few of the imperfections in the paint, made the gaping hole where my fog light blank should have been black, and added a LOT of smoke to the 'shit standing burnout look' centrefold.

I think my monitor may be a little bright. It was very dark until I got the dodge tool out. Looks a little dark on my laptop, though the screen is a law unto itself.

Is your monitor calibrated?

How about in your avatar, to me that looks darker than the B&W?
