325i SE 2 door, preferably with a slipper cruises obc and definetly with leather seats. Up to you though. Not quite enough to buy a sport, but I think they're over rated and overpriced at the mo. You could always improve the suspension and put a spot box on later. Just get somthing sound

Do you know something about Hani (or indeed Hani's driving) that we don't?

It's not like the cars don't exist anymore once they're sold

I'm not a crazy driver and I havent spun out yet in a RWD. I probably wouldnt want an e36 unless it was a really good one, i think they look a bit 80's. Has anyone had an E32 or E34 they seem to come with alot more features for the same price as an e30.

And the E30 doesn't?
Buy an E32/E34 for comfort, or an E30 for fun
I know the E34 is quite highly rated by a few people on here.
Makes sense that the E32 is better....if you can afford the fuel

if you want power and noise you'd get a nice e34 535i manual for that money
not much fun to drive though, e30 (or e28 535i for that matter) much more involving

I only get about 15mpg in my current 320, i'm sure you can't get much worse than that without buying a Hummer. I can't seem to find many 325 at the moment i'm sure there were laods more a month ago.

E34 is fantastic but it doesnt feel fast due to the refinement levels. Even my M5 feels slow inside. If your doing town driving then e34 isnt exactly ideal though.
E30:
325i is what you should get or even a 318iS (which will give much better fuel economy and is a very nice drive). 325i is much harder to drive around town than the 318iS.
Ԛ£1200 isnt alot of money so youll need to hunt down a bargain. A mint mint 320i/325i is going to be nearer Ԛ£2000-Ԛ£2500 and thats what it its worth even though the sport boys think they are worthless compared to their Ԛ£10000 chav chariots.
The other thing you could look for is a 4 door 325i.......these for some reason have no value on the face of this earth and a minter can be had for Ԛ£1200 easily.
Just take your time and try to buy something that needs no work. Dont buy the first car you see! And make sure you get the rust checked out as buying a bad e30 can be a very big liability.
Keep posting up for advice etc and make the right purchase.
I would definately say the 318iS is more suited to your needs.

I just bought an e34 530I V8 on ebay, I wasnt very serious about but just bidded without thinking. Got it for 1125 which seem good for the car as its 1993 and has loads of extra a/c, heated seats. Only problem is its and auto but i think i can live with that i'm only keeping the car for a few months and I think being cool with my ac is more important than chaging gears myself. PLus i'm keeping my 320i too and will fix it up later this month.

looks like a nice old cruiser
run it for a while and sell it on, may even turn a small profit and allow you to get the E30 you want.

I reckon it is a bargain its M60 not the M30 so should be quite nice and can't find any on autotrader for that price. I'll get back to you guys when i buy it and tell you how it runs.

15.5 mpg around town, driving like a nun
There is (might be
) something wrong with your car mate.
My 325i never drops below 20mpg even when thrashing it around town.

nice looking car, good that it's had the replacement engine done. but i'd personally rather have a 535i manual

Me too, but i also wanted a/c as I get hot very easily and as i plan to do some touring this summer thought the auto, cruise control and a/c might come in handy. Now all i need is a spare 750 for this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 93750&rd=1
WOnder how i could make 750 in 5 days?

so you get warm easily but want leather?????
I would probably spend your 750 on getting the brakes sorted and all the other niggly stuff done-so the car is mechanically as perfect as possible, then start thinking about astheics
