erm 2.5 coolent gremlin???

i recently topped up my low coolent when after a couple of days the warning light came on so i checked it again and it wal low there doesnt seem to be any water in the oil but when i pulled out the coolent depth sensor i was covered in a sludgy mud like substance do i have a water /oil leek in the engine or are we talking a cracked head /gasket here any help please get back to me.............j

hmmmm sound's dodgey to me, it could possably be the head gasgate, have you checked under the oil filler cap to see whats going on in there? and pull the dip-stick out and ckeck the end of it mate, and if you can stick a pic up of the sludge stuff just to see what colour etc etc

well the oil cap is fine the dipstick only shows oil no sludge water and the stuff in the expantion tank is just like moist mud dark browney in colour and mud like in consistancy....................j

U prob had a block in rad and it has now blowen through... drain it out fill it back up bleed it then run and see what happens...can't do any harm

right just stick some coolant flush in there to give it a good clean out and see what happens after that mate : )

erm ok i was going to chage the head for on i am building at the moment soon anyway so the head gasket will be getting changed then as the car has done 140000 on the origanal gasket and the cam belt hasnt been cahged since 80000 ..........j
