I'd say that says he was overtaking on a corner...Gwynleym10 wrote:

Yes OK - I was overtaking on the corner, however it wasn't a solid white line and there was good visability. If it was dangerous to overtake surely there would be solid white lines? I'm not trying to get out of the blame - it was obviosly driver error. The aim of writing this post was to show others how easy it can be to loose not only your car, but also peoples lives - it is just not worth it - not try to get sympathy. IMO the Zone set up to let people report what has happened to their cars, I think having a crash in one is a pretty big thing to report.
To be honest i am still try to work out exactly what went wrong (obviously the whole overtaking thing is the major part of it!)
However I didn't really feel like I was exactly pushing it really hard (I don't with my GF in the car). In North Wales you have to overtake in not ideal conditions, other wise you will be stuck behind trucks doing 40mph for hours.
I am also concerned that the lorry driver I overtook said that one rear wheel was in the air - that I assume is down to the super stiff H&R ARBs
They were set on their least stiff position.
What are other peoples opinions on them? Are they too stiff for road use? I ain't going to take it any further - just interested in peoples opinions.
This is interesting, especially after the thread the other week.Demlotcrew wrote:Thats what you get for fitting H&R anti roll bars

We fitted an adjustable rear arb to my friends e30 on medium setting and that made it very oversteery.

Yea was open diff, though I don't think the road was greasy - might be a bit difficult to tell though.
If only one rear wheel was on the ground then any small bit of grease could of set it off.

Glad you ok mate., driver error or not... we all do/have or certainly will at some stage in our driving years, put our foot down a bit, whether it be for enjoyment on open roads or racing round the local asda car park.
i certainly enjoy a good hard run in the country at a weekend
what interests me is what you say about the rear, and h&r ARB... im on my third e30 now,, my first no problem, my second lasted about a month and got shot of it as i could tell something was not quite right with it ...my current one is great but ive had a few issues at low speed when the back end as lost it at a roundabout.... im currently in the process with Evolve with buying a new suspension set up, and actually have asked for Eibach ARB,
may i ask what springs and shocks you had fitted etc
do you think the ride was hard, did you notice anything previous to this accident etc...
hope im not labelling you as a crash test dummy, but feedback from these sort of things inevitably help people in the future, which is why i think your post is as important as many a post on this forum.
have a couple of drinks this weekend mate and saviour the miracle of living

The suspension set up is standard m-tech (new rubber / springs and shocks)
Yes I want to give feeback that hopefully should help other!
I found the set up incredably stable at high speed (over 100mph on European Roads was fine) however I had found it a little twichy at load speed tighter corners.
However this was a long sweeping bend, all I can assume was that the change in direction and camber unsettled it.

it will as will fitting a fat bar on the front make it an understeer chariotsteerfromtherear wrote:We fitted an adjustable rear arb to my friends e30 on medium setting and that made it very oversteery.
Gywn were you using good tyres?
I think what Andrew has said is bang out of order tbh. It wasn't that long ago he thought H&R roll bars where the best thing since sliced bread. But then it was whiteline where to dogs and who knows what is next. But i doubt the spinless little sh!tbag will back himself up on this

Tyres were nothing special TBH, which may be another lesson to learnt!
Thinking about it is was the first time driving in the mountains on these tyres. Though the previous tyres where Avon ditch finders...

just my thoughts if your suspension was good and the tyres not so this could explain a sudden loss of grip, as the suspension can only help you so much. Cheaper tyres tend to have less feedback i find.
I'd always use something half decent as i've found cheap tyres to be a false economy in the long run, alot less wear, grip, feedback
