There's a rechargeable battery pack in the sounder, if it's the model I'm thinking of, and this battery pack has probably failed.
Check out replacement battery packs for emergency lights to find a suitable replacement.

I'm having the same problem as above on my 93 318i touring.......
It happened when I changed the battery yesterday ( I think that's what drained my previous battery)......I havent opened the sounder to see if it has a battery pack.....but I will today....but...
....Where would I start looking for a replacement battery pack for emergency lights ??
Thankyou

Guess what!I've got the same issuesThe cars seldom used and kept garaged, never driven in rain etc, but the battery had drained and after jump starting this monotonous low alarm sound came from the alarm system.I've deactivated the alarm with the key but thats taken out the remote central locking.
