My grinding noise is lowder :(

hi Guys

I have an e30 318 convertible, but i think the diff is grinding.

not sure thou, i have changed both bearings ( rear ) top up the diff oil but still i have this noise. Its a grinding noise comeing from pass side rear only when i am moving and slowing down say at 5mph i get it is it the gear box or the diff? Maybe neither

If it is the diff what will fit any e30 or has it got to be for my car.

It could well be the diff.

If it is very worn, new oil won't help!

Any e30 diff will fit, but if you have a small case diff, and change to a large case diff, you will need to adjust the length of the propshaft, and vice versa.

Is it definately coming from the left rear? Does it just sound like that because of where you are sitting?

Have you jacked up the N/S/R wheel and spun it listening for noises, or taken the wheel off and looked for problems?

yes its defo coming from the passanger side as friends have been listeing too, out of the window and standing on the road, i have had wheels off and brakes and bearings are ok it really sounds like the diff to me. could it be the drive shaft maybe, u say its got a different size housing would this be a bit of a probem or should i hunt for a diff of a 318 cabro.

Looks easy enough to change but any ideas are really welcome cause imreally stuck and funds r tight thanks
