I'm thinking about trying to fit an OBC to my '98 e36 318iS saloon.
Is it just plug & play, or will i need to check if my car has the wiring harness to support the OBC first?
Also, will i need to source an OBC from a 4 cylinder car rather than a 6 cylinder car?
Something in my head is reminding me of the clocks that i used to have in the e30 325se. They had a 6 cylinder code plug in them, will and e36 OBC be similar?
Sorry, i know nothing about fitting an OBC to a 4 cylinder e36.
Please help.
Regards,
Pete.

Today on my travels around some local breakers yeards, i found an 18 button OBC.
The OBC came from a J plate 325i saloon.
There are two wires that are soldered in above the clock area of the OBC.
I have plugged it all into my exisiting wiring harness, and it appears to work, but is very very dim.
Even when turning the lights on, there is no difference.
Im fairly sure that those two soldered wires are for some form of ilumination for the OBC.
The J plate 325 had it connected via some type of scoth lock (well not exactly a scotch lock, but similar).
Mr car doesnt have those 2 colored wires available.
Suggestions?
Regards,
Pete.

Well, ive just been outside with some scoth locks, lol.
Got it all lit up, then a smell of burning came along & the whole dashboard started to flash on and off.
Hmm.
Upon removing the OBC from my car i have decided that someone has already modified the OBC with the two additional wires.
Looks like i need another OBC, grrr!
I know the guy i bought them from wont give me my money back!
