3 digit ECU code

If an early type 325i ECU has last 3 digits 073 and a late type has 173, what does the code ending 380 signify cos thats what is on the label of my ECU (H plate 1990 325i) ???????????? :?

380 is Bosch Motronic 1.3 90-92.
The 173 was Bosch Motronic 1.3 88-90
Don't know what the difference is, but probably to do with improved emissions.
