My 318is has 330,000 miles on the chassis. It has a 3.0L M50 with about 80k miles now. Had the M42 until about 250,000 until it was removed to drop in the 6.

Most parts have been replaced at one point or another, but the trailing arm bushings still have 330,000 miles....time to swap them out!

There are other cars in the states with 400,000+ miles, mostly E28's and M20 E30's.

Just hope my M20 lasts this long :)

the "tight" feeling is lost in things people dont consider replacing. things like reseting the preload on the steering rack pinion, the uj of the rack, the front top mounts, sub frame and trailing arm bushes, ball joints ont he wish bones, adjusting the door hinges and lock strikers, replacing the pedal bushes and the old worn throttle cable etc.

My '86 325e and '87 325es both had over 200k when their odometers broke.

My 325is has 187k.

On the steering pinion we just replace the rubber donut with aluminum. Along with stiff control-arm bushings there is no slop in the steering.

MINES done 90k(2.5) genuine and still feels tight as people have said it is very different from the feel of most e30's by now hence why good cars should command a significant premium price wise. however mileage is not the only reason these cars tend to feel knackered a lot's down to abuse and lack of maintenance and remember a good percentage of e30's aren't showing their true mileage anyway.

My 325 is on 164600 and still going strong, well apart from needing new injector seals which went pfhutt last week. Rest of car is stonking though, considering it was £230!

Wow, so this car had done 300k on the original engine, and has now done 200k on the m30? Plus what mileage was already on the m30!?
