Hi Everyone. I was wondering if anyone could help with some speaker advice. I've a convertible that I'm fitting a sound system into. I'm planning on hiding the speakers away so that it's not all glarey and boy racer style. I've two 10" Rockford Fosgate P2D210 subs run by a Rockford Fosgate T600-2 amp and a Clarion VRX578RUSB head unit. I'm after some speakers though. I was thinking of having 4 hidden into the front door cards and two in the back door cards, (in total). I'm asking advice, as everything you look at on the car audio sites say they're the best, but I know my friend once went for expensive alpines, and wasn't impressed at all, and I pioneer TSE's that I then thought were great, until I heard another friend who had a set of infinity's running off the head unit, that sounded much better than my amped Pioneer TSE's!!! and both of our speakers were just in the standard positions at the base of the front doorcards, and rear parcel shelf. Any help would be great, I'd like 17cm sized ones though which I believe is 6.5" but 6" would be fine, not smaller ones. I'm not too worried about price, but obviously nothing too stupid. I'm after a quality sound.
Thanks a lot.
Paul.

Rainbow or MB Quart, http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/produc ... /3985.html.
If budget is tighter than some Infinty Perfects are also a good choice, You have 2 subs so bass wont be an issue. Need to hear them really to see if they suit your taste.

You could put any of the above in there and it may sound rubbish.... The key to good sound is the mounting and soundproofing of the speakers. How are you going to be mounting the speakers?
Wanted: Any old component speakers, complete or separate parts, let me know what you got

Well said secondtimelucky, installation and wiring is the key.

Cheers bud
i just find it annoying when people spend loads on the best speakers and put them in wobbly builds, then complain about the speakers being sh*t....ITS NOT THE SPEAKERS!!!!!
spend half the budget on speakers then mount them in solid builds with dynamat (or similar) behind the speakers, you guys would be amazed at the difference it can make

I'm afraid you won't be hiding anything in the doors of an E30. You can't sink the speakers into the door, as the window mechanism is in the way. The only way to put speakers in the doors, is to have door builds.crazymonk wrote:I was thinking of having 4 hidden into the front door cards

JL Audio are the best I've heard. Not cheap for the good ones though.

Hi, thanks for all the advice. I know about mounting them well, and when I say hiding them, I don't mean that you won't be able to tell there there, as the main shape will obviously be seen, as they will be mounted in custom door builds, but what I mean is that they will match into the interior, not like the painted big fibreglass installs you get where the whole speaker is on show. The speakers will be mounted in fibreglass installs, and yeah I am planning on using dynamat, I've had great results with that before, and I will be using good wires, with as high an oxygen free content as possible. I was just wondering who was doing the best sound quality now, as there are so many options now, it's hard to decide who to spend your money with.
