I was hoping to get some paint to sort out a few stone chips and things on the car, Would i be right in thinking it best to go to a BMW dealer, and if so what sort of quantities do they sell paint in as i don't need gallons of the stuff.

try halfords first failing go to a decent autorepair company with the paint code and they should be able to mix it for you, i paid a tenner for a tea cup full a while ago so that i could puff in a few bits and sort out the stone chips,
money well spent

A good auto-paint shop should be able to supply an aerosol mixed to your paint-code, or to match your requirements.

DO NOT GO NEAR HALFORDS their paint match is pants
, thats from personal experience and from past threads on the subject..
i use.. http://www.nu-agane.co.uk/ or if you know someone in the motor trade "Dingbro" will match the paint on the car for you..just take in the petrol flap..
i dont really rate bmw paint either for the price i have payed in the past..bought lagoon green to puff in the arches of my touring, only to find it was way off shade. to be fair mettalics are notoriously hard to match anyway
