What sort of price should you pay for an E30 M3?

There was a mint '87 plate with 85k for 8k. Was really mint and didnt hang about for long. Theres a guy on pistonheads wanting 22k for one

Low mileage yes, but no way i'd pay 22k for an e30

but for under 7K you will be looking at expensive repairs/replacements - remember nearly everything on the M3 is different and fooking expensive - I know from personal experience over the past eight years - but there is nothing like it

3 and a half years ago I paid just over 8K for mine. Generally its been pretty good so far. I used to commute it for 2 of those years! I saw shitters for £6K and snotters for £10K whilst looking. As ever buy on condition, not spec or miles. I'd say anything in the 7-8 SHOULD get you a pretty nice one. If I was selling mine tomorrow Id ask for £6,5 or so. (I'm not though)

As much as i love E30s, if i had £23k the word Letters BMW would change to TVR, and for the one day a year that it didnt break down it would be worth it :D

10K will get you something very nice.

Not a mint Sport Evo or a ultra lo-miles version but definitely something clean and mechanically sound.

I think a lot of the zoners saying that gets you nothing are in fact M3 owners! :D

I would not pay more £9999 for an M3. I'm holding out for a nice Evo II in Macao Blue and I won't budge till it comes up for the right money. No need to rush - it's the car you want then you can wait for it right?

I am so glad this topic has come up, as i was wondering myself what these cars go for. Omitting the two on piston heads, i have seen coupes and one convertible going from 6k up to 12K from Autotrader to private traders, and a couple around Ebay.

Since i have been trying to sell my one i was trying to get a realistic price on a car nearer to my cars own spec and saw this one below on piston heads which has the exact same engine as my own
Image

and this one on the www.mobile.de website which is like a german autotrader.
Image

here are the others i have seen and i converted all the prices into pounds saving you the trouble.

And there is loads more.

When i put my car up for sale i tried to stick more near to the german prices as traders here in the UK automatically want to knock off a couple thousand when a car is left hand drive for some reason.

I started at a ridiculous 20k :D dropped down to 17.5k and have been offered from 6 different people 15k which i would accept and the car should be gone in the next couple of weeks.

As the prices on these cars are very confusing and conflicting from site to site and forum to forum, 15k was my minimum as i realistically dont think its a bad price considering what i have seen for sale around on the net and above, and if i was to sell my hardtop seperatly my car would be up for 14k.

My spec is as follows

E30 M3
3.6 M5 Hartge engine
310.5bhp 267lbs torque (done at Bexleys Motorsprot)
93,000kms = 53,000 genuine miles on the clock.

Besides the few genuine buyers i have had, i have also had a lot of hate email, and forums starting topics trying to devalue my car for what it is, because of M3 mirrors :D , and M3 gear and handbrake knobs :D (which can easily be changed if they buy the car for under £150 :D , how this makes my car pimped i dont know, considering the rest of the car besides the engine is standard, but each to there own opinion i suppose.

Hilarous really considering i have seen 325i convertibles up for sale from 6k to 10k, 318is from 1.5k to 4k, mtech2s from 4k to 8k, and mtech1s from 2k to 4k.

One thing i have learned from this experience, E30s are bloody expensive

Good luck J1mmys with finding and buying an E30 M3.

Not for a Hartge H35S (I think that's what it's called). It is one of only 6 cars ever produced....£23K is cheap for that bit of motoring heritage.

I paid £4k for my one about 3.5yrs ago. However, I've just spent another £3K on an engine rebuild....
