First off: A full factory dechrome?
All tourings came without shadowoline and this one still has chrome kidneys. So, it was not dechromed if it was never chromed in the first place. Picky, but worth pointing out.

As for the sports steering wheel, it looks like mine, and mine's not a sport wheel as far as I know ;(

Either the seller isn't an E30 aficionado, which is perfectly fine. Or, he/she is saying what he/she thinks the potential buyer would desire in order to sell the car (nothing wrong with that either).

However, it does look like a very clean, original car that hasn't been messed about with. Of course, you would have to see it in person and get it all checked out for that money. Perhaps you could pay someone 'in the know' from here if you're in Ireland?

I don't think the fact it hasn't got a 325i and loads of sport goodies should devalue it.

Also bear in mind the seller will know that potential purchasers will haggle and has maybe marked the touring up.

As for the 111,000 miles, I thought some members on here boasted their E30s were only just broken in at that mileage? lol With a full service history and regular services/cam belt changes, I would think it was worth looking at.

I paid over 2,000 for my 316i touring in 2003 which I know people will snigger at, but it only had around 60,000 + original miles, was the colour I wanted, and I basically fell in love with it; I have never regretted spending that money and mine is not in as good condition as this one.

Worth a look with an idea of bartering I'd say, if it's specifically a 318 you want. Good luck and hope you enjoyed the essay

Thanks Greentouring!

All luxes had sports steering wheels didn't they? - as opposed to the standard four spoke wheel

Agree with all your other points though.

No problemo.

If that's the case, I have a 3 spoke sport steering wheel! :P

To be seriouse...
That 318 Touring look on the picture like a car who have been on the road for about 2 years, it looks very very clean and there is no rust, no scratsh and the interior looks fabules compeer to the most of the old Beemers around. I know it isnt a car with a 6 port engine, but if I had the money for a clean nice E30 who is rust free I would seriously have a tought about it, because a good E30 is one of the best car you can get, a much bether car than a Fiat Punto for the same price....

that is steep mate. my mtec touring had 80000 miles on it,3.91 lsd, leather interior, 1 year mot and all electrics and cost me £1200 from a dealer.it also had a 2.5 m20 until i ripped it out. mine is a sh1t colour admittedly but its very clean underneath with no welding and still undersealed.

When was that, Fuzzy?

I admit, when I purchased it I'd NOT done my homework, didn't belong to a forum, have never owned a BM, and had just fancied having an old E30 touring.

Had I belonged to a forum like this (was it even around in 2003?) things might have turned out different. When I by another E30 I shall deffo post it on here before hand for a crit ;)

Sorry, 3 grand buys a very, very nice 1997-8 E36 318i Touring with aircon and the vastly better M43 engine. Anyone who thinks that is worth the asking price doesn't know the value of money. I've seen some very nice examples for £1000-1500. It's an old BMW at the end of the day and anyone can get an old car bulled up for 20 quid at the local Kosovo car wash.....

i bought mine around 2005 and i was in exactly the same position as yourself with no previous knowledge of e30's . thats why i ripped the m20 engine out and stuck a cossie before joining up on here in 2 weeks after buying it.
