Where to mount harnesses?

Can anyone advise the best location to mount harnesses (4 point)? I have been told the parcel shelf is a no-go. Should I be looking to secure them to the rear bulkhead?? If so, how do I go about doing this??

Any comments/advice appreciated.

Ideally the should be mounted horizontally to either a bar welded onto a cage, or similar. I used the rear holes for the rear seat belts in my is, so fixed at the bottom of the seat at an angle down from the seat, there are four holes there for your eyelets. For the lap straps, one is in the Std seat belt hole down by the side of the seat, the other is fixed to a welded mounting bracket (basically a plate with a bolt welded on). If your doing to do any serious track stuff a cage is a must with harness, I ran mine without for a while, cage is being fitted this week. Sobering thought is that firstly, with the harness mounted at an angle, a frontal impact can pull you down into the seat causing spinal damage, and also, if your strapped in tight, should the car roll over your unable to bend with it, so should the roof fold in, you cant fold with it so to speak.

I do intend to have a cage but as my car has a sunroof, the only safety devices cage that will fit a sunroof equipped car does not come with a harness bar.

My wiechers one doesn't either, but it has a rear cross, so hopefully (have to go look this week) I'm just going to weld to seperate pieces of pipe to the cross, and mount it to there, kind of like this, excuse my paint skills, LOL

I do intend to have a cage but as my car has a sunroof, the only safety devices cage that will fit a sunroof equipped car does not come with a harness bar.

i have a sd cage with sun roof and has harness bars, if you go onto the sd site look for dealers and the chap is automec i think?? top bloke and very helpful

I'm about to import Sparco harness bars into the UK, saw them when I was in the States recently and thought they were a really goog idea, an alternative to fitting a full cage but allows you to run harnesses in a road or track car. Easily taken out when you don't need the harnesses and can leave standard belts in place if you want to. I'll get some pics up tomorrow, but have a look at ebay no 260031957875 to get the idea. They won't ship to the UK, I've tried, so I've recently agreed a deal with Sparco USA to import them. Let me know what you think?

I'm importing these to the UK from Sparco USA, they do a specific fitment for the E30 and I'm putting one in my track car. Gives you the chance to run harnesses without a full cage and if you have a 4 door you can still get passengers in as well. I'm waiting for the full list of applications as I know that they do them to fit loads of other cars.

Must be removable, no way that would be legal or safe if it wasn't.

They are removable, just bolt to the existing seatbelt mounts, which is what makes them so practical.

This look like a great idea. Does anyone know if they will fit even if you already have a cage fitted.... just wondering about clearance near B-pillar and potential headache with rear diagonal.

They will fit with some basic cages, if its too substantial then the b pillar feet will get in the way, usually the diagonal is far enough away to not be an issue. You could always try one if you wanted, should be shipped to me in th UK 3-4 weeks.
