john the boot catch is possibly sticking/jammed hence the reason it wont stay shut.Easy enough to take out and clean up or replace.
Dash panel is also easy to swap over, just a few screws.
First id suggest doing a rust search under the kit,can hold some very nasty surprises 8O
Alternatively you could just sell it me :D

You have the bases of a nice car there, good colour as well.As Eko said the boot latch is sticking/jammed or maybe just needs adjusted.
I've got a heater panel on ebay at the moment.

Good luck with the motor.

I'd second that on the rust search.... also take your boot carpet and trim out and check the area around the rear top mounts as I found a nasty suprise there too.

Good work, looks like you've got your self a nice little project. Bargin price what ever the condition. if it doesnt work out you can probably sell off the parts and make up the money.

£150 is a stupily low price for a genuine sport. As others have said check for rust everywhere, remove all the trim in the boot and inspect every inch paying close attention to the inner wheel arches. Remove the body kit from the sides of the car and check under there. Also one other place that gets over looked very often is the sun roof tray which is the panel under the roof skin which the sun roof slides into. This sun roof tray has drain tube which can get blocked and stop water draining away. This area also has no corrosion protection either.
If the car turns out to be completely rotten it will break for a lot more than £150, the body kit alone is worth £400. Also the 14" bottle top wheels that are on your car are incorrect for a sport and it should have 15" bbs but you probably allready knew that.

Good luck

is it a genuine sport or 'just' a 325i? for £150 my money would be on the latter as sports are worth £000's more than a 325i .you never know you could be lucky.

That is a common place to rust on a e30. The rear light seals are probably deteriorated therefore leaking into the tray. Also have you checked the opposite side underneath the battery? Its more than likely that it will have rusted worse there :( .
You can get panels from BMW main dealers or cheaper from other parts places like Euro Car Parts or German and Swedish etc.

I suspect you've got alot of work to do :D

no worries eko mate. i was told its a real sport. i got the log book and its on there saying sport. the reason why i got it cheap is my mate picked it up off a bloke who knew the car was rusted underneath and couldn't be bothered with repairing. think he may of traded it in at where my mates works but dont quote me on that bit.

no i haven't looked under battery yet. found out the scuttle pan has rusted as well. if its alot of work then it hopefully be done slowly. i have asked for the car to go into a garage next week to have a look at the rust and give me a price on how much it will cost me. :)

John its still worth doing more of your own checks bfore paying a garage.
Tilt the sunroof up and shine a torch into the roof, you need to look towards the sides of the sunroof tray for rust, very common and not often checked area that can result in very costly repair bills(I speak from experience).
Also lower the glovebox from its straps and remove the upper plastic cover from under the dash. You should now be able to shine a torch in to see the lower scuttle/behind fusebox/bulkhead,again rust is very common here.
Ideally remove the carpet which is a PITA but if nessarsary just pull all 4 corners back after removing a few bits of trim and check the floors, pay close attention to around the accelerater pedal base and both front corners.
If you keep finding rust then my advice would be reshell :D

i took the back seat out its ok there and lifted the 2 corners of the carpet at the back and there is no rust but i haven't looked at the front. garage i am taking it to is well good they said they wouldn't mind having a look. so fingers crossed. do you think i could get the parts i need from the bmw parts forum on here.

Hi John,
Just had my Sport stolen. Someone suggested it may end up at a banger racing track, so can you please keep an eye out for it (Diamond Black, registration F38 FNW). Ta.
