Okay guys,

I am about to buy a car, but it is in essex, 200 miles away from me, and at the minute, I cant afford insurance on it. I was planning on insuring someone else on it for the day to bring it down to southampton. Problem is I don't know anyone over 21, and getting tempo insurance on anyone U21 seems to be impossible. Any Ideas

If you can't afford insurance how can you afford the car? And I think you'll find all the temporary insurance companies now won't insure cars manufactured before 1992.

Yeah the car is kinda special and one for that price isnt going to come along again for a good while. I was gonna garage it and do a little work on it for a few months, then insure it....

Hakkera if jons offer is serious you arn't going to get a better offer unless you have a friend in the trade willing to give up a day for free.

If you go to the RAC website and get a vehicle check done they are offering one week free insurance with Norwich Union. I've done it for a couple of cars now. The check only costs a fiver too!

They won't be insured on it either, only IF the ORIGINAL owner still has insurance and will allow you to drive it away on those terms.

I'm fully comp and I am able to drive any car with the owners permission as long as they them selves are insured on the said car.

Safe bet is finding someone with traders insurance or the offer you have above.
Keeping it standard.... someone has too.

As discussed in another topic day insure doesn't cover cars built before 1993 anymore, they did but there rules changed for some reason.

I always thought this but I have been through the wording in my policy and mine doesnt say that the owner has to have insured the car.
