Since I moved to a new house four months ago, there's been a 316i touring parked at the end of my road. The small window in the rear door is smashed and has been patched up with plastic which has come loose, rain is getting in. The tyres are nearly flat, it looks as if the car has not been checked for a very long time.
Just over a week ago it was clamped by the dvla for no tax, it is sure to be taken away soon to be squashed up.
I need a boot cover for mine, should I save, (steel) the one from this car?

Do some house to house enquirires.
Theft is theft at the end of the day and for the sake of a load cover worth about £30 is it worth it?

Your right, seems such a waste though. My road has no residents parking restrictions, so the owner probably lives in a different area.

Rape the turd ! being a 4 ppot it shouldn't take long to remove anything of value ! :) If you wait and try and do things the 'proper' way the car will have been long cubed !
Tell the rozzers you are an enviromentalist and you are 'recycling' ! :D

I think you can actually lay a claim to it legally if nobody contests your claim within 3 weeks.

Via the police or DVLA I don't know.

well i suppose if the vehicle isnt being atteneded to for like weeks and its pretty beat up anyway, i dont see the problem with it. waste not want not is what i say. if its crap to them, its surely is something to an E30 person.

go down there one night and slip through the plastic window, i doubt it will be alarmed and help yourself to a few bits and pieces. this is, of course, if the door to door enquires bring up no results.

Why do you dont write a note and you put in on the windscreen and ask the owner if you can buy it instead?

What a turd!!! Not so much poverty spec as 3rd world spec!

Don't worry about plates, more people and CCTV will see a cars plates on a daily basis than will ever look at a car on t'internet

It's worth 20 quid.

The whole car, that is. Doesn't look like a good breaker tbh - a couple of wings, foglights etc.
