A little HEAT maybe in order, I know mine needed to sit on the gas hob for 10 mins before it all came apart.

Nothing seized but the crap that builds up inside them can cause them to stick.

A little heat and a BFH should see it open up for you.

Fuzzy, Yep mine is reverse thread as are all turbos i think i've already had it apart once but just bought the tool to remove the split wasters and now can't get it back apart!! i'm looking to try and balance it myself but might resort to finding some one if the price is right.

Why?

It's not hard to do, although i have never done it i have seen friends building model jet engines using car turbo compressor's, they have to be ballanced at least as well as for a turbo.

What they use is a simple piece of alloy bar and a bearing.

http://www.5bears.com/bal.htm thats how a model jet company (Wren) recomend to do it

how come the professionals use machines that balance them at 100000rpm?

thats what i thought. ive got a spare t34 turbo with a larger .63 housing hotside and a 34mm restrictor on the inlet .i changed it for a .48 housing for better acceleration but i was wanting to rebuild it as a spare. it was smoking badly before i removed it on over run and when left idleing for more than a few minutes so would it be something best left to a pro or should a semi handy spanner man like me be able to fix it up before getting it balanced by a pro?

Yes ok, the pro's use high tech equipment costing thousands, the method i put up is a diy methad that is accurate enough for the small scale gas turbine engines that rev to well over 100K rpm.

It would be interesting if you tried it fuzzy, then sent it away to be done by a pro and get them to tell you how far out it was.
