i had an idea about the chrome bumper bit to determine pre or post, but not quite the differences in engine compressions etc, thats why this board is so important to newbies aswell, you experienced owners give us so much valued information, sorry if we repeat the same questions every now and again.murran wrote:im surprised at this thread, thought everyone even vaugely into e30s knew this sort of stuff. seems a bit of a state the obvious thread to me.........![]()

might be an idea for a sticky or guide to differentiate between the 2 (both tech 1 and 2,,, and pre-facelift post facelift) with pics etc for newer membersbss325i wrote:I originaly thought this thread was to define the difference between M technic 1 + 2 SPORTS, not to define between pre and post facelift other wise i would have posted more specific pics and info related pre and post facelift.
I guess it still helps but having a tech 1 or 2 means you have a tech 1 or 2 sport.
on a personal note, i have a pre-facelift 325i, and its got a tech 1 steering wheel in it, would this have come with the car as its not a sport, or as it been added?
sorry again if this is a silly question, but these are the small things im willing to learn about

Or for older members like me who tend to forget things quicker....o22ie wrote:might be an idea for a sticky or guide to differentiate between the 2 (both tech 1 and 2,,, and pre-facelift post facelift) with pics etc for newer membersbss325i wrote:I originaly thought this thread was to define the difference between M technic 1 + 2 SPORTS, not to define between pre and post facelift other wise i would have posted more specific pics and info related pre and post facelift.

id consider tech1/tech2 to be references to the bodykits and tech1's to be the pre facelift cars.not all cars with the kits are sports on the tech2 facelift cars anyway as the kit was an option and can come on any model. my touring came speced with a tech 2 kit for example .
thank god... just waiting on an e30 to be senseless with!fuzzy wrote:you dont have to be young to be senseless.Benho wrote:im young so i have an excuseyoung and senseless!!
good thread thanks so much... i must say i like the tech 2's

Tech 1 kits were also an option on non sport pre facelift cars as well. People just refer to the sports as tech 1 and 2 because this is what kits they came with so yes what your saying is right about the number being more of a reference to the kit but calling a pre facelift car a with out a kit, a tech1 is wrong.fuzzy wrote:id consider tech1/tech2 to be references to the bodykits and tech1's to be the pre facelift cars.not all cars with the kits are sports on the tech2 facelift cars anyway as the kit was an option and can come on any model. my touring came speced with a tech 2 kit for example .
