n/a 4 pots belong in front wheel drive hatches imo, a car like the e30 needs a bigger n/a 6 or a turbo 4.

not at all imo.everyone knows really that all 318is owners suffer from little man syndrome and live in a delusions of granduer bubble.
its just that the 318is owners wont admit it winkeye

just my opinion, no one else has to agree, but if im saying stick with the is there must be a good reason with that opinion. you dont get the is in touring form otherwise i probably would heve done, its a better road car than the 320 as its fairly pokey and efficient but i still think the 325 is the best of the non ///M cars.

If you guys are looking outside your lovely island you will discover some few things. BMW 318is E30 is a very rare car on the continent and to be honest the only 318is you find in Scandinavia and also in the Nordic countrys are grey imports from Germany! Most of the countrys choosed the 320i compeer to the 318is because they was so close to each other. I have driven 316i, 318is, 320i and 325i and I do understand people who want a 320i because it is nice to cruise on the motorways because its a 6 port engine.
But for me who is an old school Alfa Romeo freak I love the 318is because it is a perfect "Alfa 75 TS" for me.
The Is is more of a driving machine than the 320i because it likes rews and it is a 16 valve engine in it.
For me the 318is is a M3 diet or Baby M3 and I do love it a lot!

alan1272 wrote:i'm fortunate to own both a '85 320i and a '91 318is. after driving the 320i for a year i thought it was very good albeit very soft. after hearing so much about the 318is being the greatest thing since sliced bread i jumped in and was immediately disappointed, it felt gutless. so i had it rolling roaded and it did 140bhp at the wheels. the problem was i was driving it like the 320i when it really needed to be revved hard.
they're both e30s but in reality they're very different cars.
the 320i is a great cruiser with a lovely soundtrack, the 318is is a brilliantly balanced lanes basher which is infinitely improved with the addition of an lsd. :D buy both.
Surely it would have been 140 bhp at the flywheel, unless it had been modified?

Why have a 318is and a 320i, just buy a 325i and get the best of both worlds! :D
