I love this dissusion... Skin effect can't be heard even by super dog, But dose get effected by as stated above thickness the core/multi core, Which conductor is being used. And if the wire is to large which is what bought this up in the first place. then the resistance in the cable is to high and skin effect will be incresed resulting in lost energy. Still looking for the calc as it explains all in one hit..

sorry zaust but that thread does not say a thicker wire is worse!!! in fact the very first equasion shows that conductor resistence is inversely proportional to the square of the condutor radius thus thicker wire means less resistance!!!!! however i will note that it does seem to indicate that the skin effect is worse on a thicker cable when comparing a thich solid conductor to a stranded conductor, but we knew that anyway didn't we
but i do note my guesswork of 25kHz in an earlier thread was fairly close to the money if the table on page 2 is to be belived even though you cannot hear it as pointed out by Heyho!!
