Hello,
I've found an article on www.E30.de which says that the only OBC codeplug that was ever made for a 318i was for the pre facelift M10 318i.
The BMW ETK program shows that the 13 button OBC was only offered on 6 cylinder facelifted E30s and not 4 cylinder E30s.
When you take particulars like fuel tank volume into account can you expect this 042 codeplug to give full functionality of the OBC in an M40 318i? Was the 4.02 plug originally made for the 318i M10 or is it actually specific to the M40?
Does anybody have a list of E30 OBC codeplugs and what cars they work on combined with which instrument console codeplug?
Thanks
Sharknose

There is a OBC coding list on E30.de, you have to look for it though as I can't link direct to it, it's in the DIY section.
It lists the 4-2 TYP as being for a 318i M40 engine.

Simon & Smithy318i.
I bought me an OBC from the States on eBay for $50 and it works great.
Now I'm off to order the right codeplug before I fit it into the dash,
Thanks a lot for your help,
