me and a mate of mine just picked this up and are gonna attempt to restore it ourselves bar the paintjob, its got a solid engine and gearbox, only the body needs attention, got a free m-tec 1 kit included for free in the sale

plans are a full re-spray in a dark grey, m-tec custom smooth front and rear bumpers, h.i.d's, keskin kt4's with cc'd centers, full tan re-trim inside oh yeah and air ride and car computer!

couple of questions i wanted to ask

1. whats the difference between the tech1 and tech2 bumpers/skirts

2. will it be possible to replace these headlights with the projector ones

3. can the rear lights be swapped for the later syle versions with the plastic plate holder?

cheers

Welcome to the zone.

1. Tech1 and Tech2 are two different bodykits
Tech1 was fitted to prefacelift models (before 1987 ish) while Tech2 kit was fitted to the plastic bumper model.

2. Yes, the headlights are a straight swap, however the electrical connections are different plugs ( but its easy enough to rewire them )

3. No. They are a different size and shape and therefore not interchangable.

It's such a shame people leave their cars to get to this state!!

Good luck with the project!

Well I am the other half of the duo trying to restore this beautiful car..

Below is the proposed wiring diagram for all the multimedia goodies that we want.

Image

The idea is that there will be 3 seperate computer systems that can be used at the same time. The way of selecting between audio sources is a little three channel mixer that will be mounted within the dash. The motherboards will all be of a mini-itx spec, powered by M2-ATX PSUs. 3 Rudimentary hard drives will be used allowing huge storage space as all 3 systems will be connected using regular network cables. 7" touchscreens will hopefully be placed within the two front headrests and a single 10" screen in the dash. Access to the DVD drives for all three computers are planned to be under the rear passenger seats so dvds can be changed from within the cabin. As for the sound system, a simple head-unit with the aux-in functionality is all that is needed. A Directed amp for the 2 sets of components and a Brutus amp for the two Kicker Subs can deliver the music.

For the diagram:

Yellow: Power
Blue: SATA Data
Green: VGA & USB Data
Purple: Speaker Wire
Grey: Subwoofer Wire
Black: RCAs
Red: Audio data wire

Well thats the optimisic plan.. We'll see where the project actually takes us..

Ideas? Comments?

I look forward to seeing the install, will look good if it can all be blended in smoothly so it doesn't look just plonked in. The ideas are optimistic but i say if you have the money an the knowledge then you should go for it! Looking forward to seein the results guys best of luck :D

If you fancy BBS RM's instead, 8j rear, 7.5j front, I have a set on my car.
They were originally VW wheels (with stamps in the centre)
I would rather have the RS's, as it would keep my tech 1 sport looking slightly more standard than the RM's. RM's tend to look a little more bling.

If you are at all interested, let me know or drop me a PM.

Thanks

Scott

p.s. bargain for £600.

Mikey, they're nor strictly for sale, but i've always preffered the originality of the RS's compared to the slightly more bling RMs. Would ideally like a swap with money either way. They slid straight on to my 325 Sport without spacers. Wheels are 15" with 7.5" fronts, 8" rears. I havn't decided wether I'm going to keep these or trade them in for RS's in smaller 7.5" (all round). If I do keep them, I will get the arches on my Sport rolled just incase, as they really do FILL the arches.

fair enough mate, i wud put a post up on the V-Dub forums as they pay silly money for those wheels and you could get your swap too?!

all i could offer you is my 16" Oz Ultraleggera wheels as i am not sure they will suit the e30 anymore?? so will probably sell them with or without the Brand NEw eagle f1's i have for them. they have never been fitted to a car-
